Abstract
415,835. Drinking - appliances for animals. WILKINSON, L., 120, Hollingreave Road, Burnley, Lancashire. March 23, 1933, No. 8738. [Class 5 (ii).] In a drinking- appliance for poultry and the like of the type comprising a bucket or pail partly closed at the top by a plate soldered or otherwise hermetically secured within the mouth of the pail at a short distance from the mouth, a portion of the plate being cut away at one edge so as to form an opening communicating with the interior of the pail, a plate hermetically secured to the mouth of the pail in front of said opening, to form a drinking trough, and legs or a stand for supporting the pail on its side with the upper edge of the plate at the pail mouth horizontal, a further opening is provided in the pail, such opening being hermetically sealed by a detachable seal which, when removed, allows free access to the interior of the pail for cleaning purposes. A circular opening C in the bottom of the pail is surrounded by an annular rib D and by an interrupted circular rib formed by pressing out portions E of the pail bottom, such portions being deeper at one end than the other and having secured thereto inwardly projecting plates F. A closure for such opening comprises a central depressed portion G fitting the opening, a flange H supporting a packing ring J and radial arms K projecting beyond the flange H to engage beneath the inclined plates F. Alternatively, the detachable seal may be applied to an aperture in the plate that is secured within the pail mouth.
