Opening by cutting or tearing.-A lever lid tin or other container is provided with a diaphragm c of flexible cellulose or the like transparent material covering the contents and held in place for example by being spun into the seamed joint between the mouth ring b and the wall of the container. -The diaphragm is applied to the container as a plane sheet, i.e. it is not previously moulded to conform with the shape of the tin.
