Abstract
415,623. Nonconducting coverings for heat. SCHLICHTING, O., 10, Wrangelstrasse, Steglitz, Berlin. Dec. 6, 1933, No. 34316. [Class 64 (ii).] Heat insulation comprises a pack of separating sheets 10 having heat-reflecting surfaces, kept apart by thin-walled metallic or nonconductive webs 9 arranged in the form of a mesh and forming cells with the separating sheets. The webs may be connected together or to the separating sheets by stitching, riveting, pasting or by welding, or folds 18, Fig. 6, arranged in corrugated sheets may be inserted in corresponding folds in the webs. The webs may comprise metal foils such as aluminium foil or aluminium-plated iron foil, paper, asbestos or artificial resins. The sheets may comprise metal foil or metal coated materials having low heat conductivity such as sheets 22, Fig. 8, cooted with aluminium foil. Both the webs and the sheets may be corrugated and the webs may take the form of a honeycomb or of a rectangular lattice. The cells may be airtight and filled with gases of low thermal conductivity.
