Abstract
471,176. Condensers. FODOR, G. Nov. 28, 1935, No. 33068. Convention date, Sept. 11, 1935. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 8, 1936.] [Class 37] A dielectric consists of an adhering film of magnesium hydroxide, produced on magnesium foil or sheet by subjecting the foil to hydroxidation by the action of steam or water at high pressure and temperature, the hydroxidation being stopped before the whole of the metal is converted. The hydroxide layer may be thereafter impregnated with wax or other compound. Wound or plate condensers may be made with magnesium foil strips hydroxidized on one or both sides in association with similar strips or strips of other metal. A strip of magnesium hydroxidized on both sides may form the dielectric between two strips of other metal. British Specifications 173,742 and 259,552, [both in Class 36], U.S.A. Re-issue Specification 16340, and U.S.A. Specification 1,650,972 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the conversion of magnesium hydroxide into magnesium oxide by heat for use as a dielectric, and the use of sheets of copper or aluminium covered superficially with magnesium or magnesium alloy subsequently hydroxidized. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
