Abstract

283,543. Dubilier Condenser Co. (1925), Ltd., (Assignees of Weiss, A. J.). Jan. 13, 1927, [Convention date]. Condensers have a dielectric of fibrous material which is treated with two or more insulating materials having different physical properties. The condenser 1 is made by winding metal foil and strips of paper 2 and is impregnated in melted paraffin wax, under pressure if desired. During cooling the wax contracts as shown in the diagonal shading 3 having spaces at the ends where voids occur. To prevent this, the condenser is placed. while still hot, in a. tank containing, for instance, cold petrolatum, the tank being pumped for half-an-hour to remove air. Air under pressure is then admitted so that as the wax contracts the petrolatum soaks in and fills the voids as indicated by the vertical shading 4. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of a liquid or semi-liquid as the second impregnating material. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
