Abstract
415,030. Rotary engines. ARTHUR, J., and HOLMAN BROS., Ltd., Camborne, Cornwall. Feb. 11, 1933, No. 4250. [Class 110 (ii).] The radially-sliding vanes 18 are supplied, intermittently, with fluid under pressure, which is admitted to spaces 19 and slots 17 by way of ports 21, to force the vanes outwards. The fluid is supplied through a port 26 to a conduit 24, and led through channels 27, 28, to spaces 19. In the case of the machine being a compressor, delivery fluid may be used behind the vanes. Where the machine is a prime mover, working fluid is supplied through a conduit 29 and exhausted through a port 30. The conduit 29 communicates with the inlet 26 by way of a valve 31 which is pressed axially by means of arms 34 under centrifugal force, against a spring 33. The rotor 15 is keyed to the shaft 16, and free to float thereon. A lubricant from a chamber 37 is fed through a needle valve 38.
