Abstract

398,678. Rotary engines. SAUVEUR, H., 12, Duisburgerstrasse, and FIEBIG, W., 4, Am Brabrink, W³lfel, both in Hanover, Germany. Nov. 21, 1932, No. 32883. Convention date, Nov. 20, 1931. [Class 110 (ii).] In a pump or engine having a gyratory piston provided with teeth, each gyrating in a recess in a casing due to the piston motion, Fig. 1, means are provided to balance the sideways thrust of the piston, due to the centre of pressure of the working fluid being eccentric to the piston centre, to prevent excessive pressure at the points of contact between piston and casing. Fig. 2 shows a pump piston 1 driven by an engine piston 2 so that balance is secured by the opposing action of the working fluid and the fluid being pumped. The piston teeth are of T-shape. In a further example the engine is split up into two stages, H.P. and L.P., with the pump piston between the stages. The opposing mean pump and engine pressures are balanced. Steam or compressed air may be used in the engine. A further arrangement describes a pump driven by an electric motor, in which two piston discs have teeth curved in different directions and may be at different radii, to secure balance. Fig. 10 illustrates a modification in which the forces are approximately balanced in a single disc. The points of contact 8, 9 lie exactly or approximately on the same diameter of the piston disc. Suction and delivery slots 27, 26 are provided. The coordinating points of contact 10, 11 on the casing lie on diameters which do not greatly differ. Rollers 24 may be eccentrically positioned in holes in the rotor disc, or a separate disc, to act as guides. Nozzle blocks may be inserted in the diaphragm of the engines. Specification 385,797 is referred to.
