Abstract

414,458. Generating combustion products under pressure. ERREN, R. A., 299, Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park, London. March 18, 1933, No. 8225. [Class 51 (i).] Steam boilers in which atomized water is brought into contact with a flame of a 2 to 1 mixture of hydrogen and oxygen have a metal plate against which the water and flame are directed, the steam being caused to pass through the flame or another such flame and mix with the superheated steam produced by the combustion. In the form of generator shown having a single or double water jacket h, two burners b and water nozzles c are provided, the flames and sprays impinging on opposite sides of dished corrugated plates d through perforations i of which the generated steam passes. Large holes k allow steam from the upper part to flow to the outlet at the base, an annular plate e so restricting the passage as to force the whole of the outgoing steam into the flame space f in which it is highly superheated. The water and gas supplies may be interconnected to preserve the ratio required for the complete conversion of the water into steam.
