Abstract

413,505. Closures for collapsable tubes. FELDMAR, A. B., 24, Sybelstrasse, Charlottenburg, Berlin. Aug. 8, 1933, No. 22165. [Class 125 (iii).] An internal closure device for collapsable tubular containers, adapted to open inwardly on the application of pressure to the contents, comprises a plunger 9, Fig. 1, formed with a central passage-way 14, slidably mounted in a cylindrical housing 4 and urged upwardly by a spring 13. The plunger carries an abutment 15 projecting into the neck portion of the container and normally sealing the aperture at the end thereof. On pressure being applied to the container the contents exude through the aperture 14 at the upper end of which the flow divides, part passing through the branches 19 to the space at the upper side of the plunger, causing it to move downwardly against the action of the spring and so uncovering the opening in the neck of the container and enabling the main mass, flowing through the passage 16 in the abutment and through the lateral branches 18 to the annular space between the abutment and the neck 3, to pass out freely. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the passages 14 and 16 are replaced by a common passage 14<a> and additional passages 25 are provided in the housing 4, the conical plunger abutment 15 is guided in the neck by means of projections 22, apertures 19<a> in the wall thereof replace the branches 19, seatings for the spring are provided in both the housing and the plunger, and an annular portion 24 projecting into the space 21 is provided.
