Abstract

413,159. Ejectors. SLUDGE PUMPING, Inc., Pier 18, North River, New York, U.S.A. Oct. 20, 1933, No. 29118. Convention date, Oct. 20, 1932. [Class 71.] Apparatus for raising heavy oils, viscous sludges, &c. from the bottom of storage tanks comprises an ejector arranged at the outlet end of the discharge pipe and means for injecting air to aerate the column at the inlet end. The injector comprises a cast iron body and enlarged socket ends 10, 11. A tapered nozzle for the aerated oil is surrounded by a steam annular nozzle 15. The steam supply is controlled by a valve 19. A reducer 21, with air holes 17, is fitted on the suction pipe 7 to emulsify the oil which emulsion is broken down by the steam jet into oil and water. The transmission line is of inverted U-form, and the steam jet is directed downwards.
