392,031. Preventing incrustation and corrosion. SCHULZ, P., 52, Borussiastrasse, Tempelhof, Berlin. Aug. 13, 1932, No. 22774. [Class 123 (i).] In apparatus for supplying chemical solutions to feedwater, the solution 12 is contained in the upper part of a vessel 4, and the lower part communicates by a pipe 2 with a funnel inlet 3 in the feed pipe 1 directed against the water flow. Pressure thus created in the space 11 is transmitted through pipe 6 to the surface of the solution 12, which is thereby forced through a delivery pipe 7 into the feed pipe. The solution is supplied from a reservoir 14 by a pump 15. The pipe 7 contains an enlargement 8, the air in which, when feedwater is not flowing, extends upward into the bend of the pipe 7 and prevents any passage of solution. When feedwater is flowing, pressure transmitted to the surface of the solution 12 forces it through pipe 7, displacing the air into the enlargement 8. The apparatus prevents diffusion of the solution into the feedwater when not required.
