Abstract
541,318. Foam-making apparatus. PYRENE CO., Ltd., and CLIFFORD, W. J. Sept. 12, 1940, No. 14151. [Class 47 (ii)] In apparatus for making foam in which water and foam-making liquid are forced together with air under pressure, through a labyrinth the liquids are supplied at a constant hydrostatic head. As shown the water and liquid together are stored in a vessel 21 feeding a chamber 22 fitted with a float-operated, needle valve 24. Air is supplied under pressure by the pipe 45 to the vessel 21, chamber 22 and labyrinth 3 to which the liquid is also fed by a valve-controlled pipe 30. In another form the liquids are supplied separately and the water is kept at a constant level in an inner vessel with an overflow by an air-lift; the mixed liquid in another form is lifted to a similar vessel by a pump operated by an air-driven motor.
