Abstract

413,019. Perambulator &c. brakes. HUGHES, Ltd., G. H., and FIELDHOUSE, E. F., St. Stephen's Street, Birmingham. Jan. 16, 1933, No. 1350. [Class 103 (i).] Hub brake mechanism for perambulators, tricycles, wheeled toys &c. comprises an anchor plate 4 for the brake shoes, having a boss 4<a> of square or other internal section to fit non- rotatably upon the correspondingly shaped axle 5<a> and a tubular member 6 screwed into a cylindrical part of the boss and surrounding the part 5 of the axle. The member 6 is adapted to receive a plain hub or as shown a ball-bearing hub 7, the cones 9, 10 being screw-threaded on the member. The brake shown comprises a pair of shoes pivoted at 17 and released by springs 16 attached to the inner face of the shoes. By removing the cap 14 and cone 10 the wheel may be removed without disturbing the anchor plate or the brake operating connections.
