Abstract

412,849. Aerating liquids. SCHWENDIMANN, C., Marly, near Freiburg, Switzerland. Dec. 2, 1933, No. 33915. [Class 14 (i).] Apparatus for aerating milk, coffee, tea, fruit beverages, and the like with carbon dioxide comprises a container 1 serving as a mixing vessel for milk and provided with a mixing device 8, with a pipe 7 through which gas can be introduced so as to escape by outlet nozzles in the device 8, a funnel 2 for introducing the liquid, a pressure gauge 3 for enabling the pressure to be controlled, a tap 4 for the admission of water, and subsequent mixing vessels 13 for beverages other than milk connected by a pipe 26 with the container 1, followed by a final collecting vessel 15 provided for the purpose of equalising the pressure. The mixing vessels 13 are each divided into an upper gas chamber 19, a liquid chamber 21, and a mixing chamber 20 situated therebetween. The gas chambers are connected with one another by connections 22 and with the gas chamber of the vessel 1 by means of a pipe 23 and are also connected with the liquid chambers 21 by tubes 24. The mixing chambers 20 are in connection by means of openings 25 in the tubes 24 both with the gas chambers 19 and also with the liquid chambers 21, and the first mixing chamber 20 is connected by means of a pipe 26 with liquid in the vessel 1. Finally each of the liquid chambers 21 is also connected by means of an inclined passage 27 with the mixing chamber 20 of the next vessel 13 of the series. In plugs 28 closing the ends of the chambers are mounted spiral mixing devices 29.
