Abstract

412,713. Walls ; building blocks. AMIGUET, P., 2, Grand-ChÛne, Lausanne, Switzerland. March 17, 1933, No. 8121. Convention date, July 15, 1932. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i).] Walls are formed of hollow blocks which are shaped to provide interconnected vertical and horizontal air passages 6, 8, as shown in Fig. 3, the vertical passages being constituted by holes disposed on each side of a cross-piece formed in each block. Ribs, grooves or recesses on one face of each block coact with a recess or recesses on the adjacent block. The blocks are of inverted U-shape in vertical cross-section, with the vertical holes provided in the base of the U as shown in Fig. 1, and interengaging tongues 1, 3 and grooves are arranged on the horizontal and end faces. The blocks are arranged as shown in Fig. 3, and the horizontal passages 8 are interconnected by the vertical holes and by apertures 7 provided in the end faces of the blocks. At corners; the blocks comprise a U-shaped part 51, Fig. 6, having a vertical opening 6<1>, and also a hollow corner portion 9. The superposed corner blocks provide, by means of the hollow portions 9, a vertical passage 10 adapted to serve as a chimney or to be filled with concrete. A modified corner block shown in Fig. 12 comprises a hollow portion 29 with two limb portions 3, 1 and a ventilation tube 35 is mounted between apertures in opposite faces of the hollow portion 29 in order to communicate with the main part of the wall. The hollow portion 29 is filled with concrete. To provide a vertical channel in a wall as shown in Fig. 10, blocks 27 as above described are arranged in association with special blocks 17, 22, 22<1>. The blocks 17 comprise two hollow parts 18, 18<1> connected by a web portion and with the upper and lower faces recessed as at 18<a>. The blocks 22, 22<1> are constructed as shown in Fig. 9, and are disposed in alternate courses with the blocks 17. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 135,961, 143,749, 168,168, and 327,766, [all in Class 87 (i)].
