Blocks, special shapes of; slabs.-A smoothfaced real or toy building bock is provided with tongues and grooves for interengagement on its top and bottom surfaces, grout-receiving recesses in the end surfaces, and holes for the insertion of steel claws to interconnect adjacent blocks or for the insertion of metal rods to interconnect one or more adjacent courses. Fig. 1 shows a hollow double-walled block with open lower side into which the interrupted tongues 2 project and are secured by grouting 8. Holes are provided for metal rods 3 and end recesses (not shown). Fig. 2 shows blocks, in plan, arranged to form a cupboard space 12. Steel claws 13 and grout-receiving recesses 14 are provided, also tongues and grooves on the upper and lower surfaces (not shown). In another construction the block is formed hollow to provide smoke, heating or ventilating flues; in the interior. Other constructions are shown for blocks used at the junction of two meeting walls and for the corners of a building. Fig. 7 shows link claws 25 associated with steel rods 22 for tieing the acute-angled corner of a structure, thus enabling the concrete filling 27 to be poured in situ to form a reinforced post. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes other blocks of T-shape and U-shape and a wall slab provided with a regular series of indentations on one face. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
