[Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i).] Blockwork walls are built of inner and outer concrete blocks, Figs. 3 and 5, formed with pairs of interlocking tenons 4 of hexagonal cross section and half the depth of the blocks ; concrete is placed in the spaces between the tenons, and may be reinforced with bars 14, and horizontal bars may be laid in grooves in the bed joints of the tenons. The blocks may have vertical apertures 2, or may be thin-walled, Fig. 20. The piers are built with hollow blocks shown in Fig. 24, and end piers with tenoned blocks, Fig. 29.
