Abstract

117,260. Quillet, E. June 23, 1917, [Convention date]. Sea and retaining walls.-Cement or concrete building-blocks for quay walls and structures generally, are formed with through holes b enlarged at the ends to receive solid or tubular dowels x, and with tongues and grooves e, f. The dowels may be made of cement or iron. Figs. 1, 3. 5, 7 show four examples of such blocks. The air spaces g extend through the whole height of a. wall, and metal bars may be embedded in cement in the holes b and tubular dowels x; the spaces between adjacent blocks may be filled with cement. Bars may be embedded in the bed joints. Corner blocks are similarly constructed. Fig. 39 shows a quay wall having the base, body, and top course formed of blocks with three, one, and two spaces respectively. Drainage is effected through blocks a<5>. Slopes or inclines may be faced with the solid or hollow blocks with reinforcements in the joints.
