In some instances it may be found advantageous to construct the blocks from asphaltum, clay or a self h'ardening plastic composition having sawdust as one of its principal ingredients. When theseblocks are laid so as to form the top course of a wall, the grooves 20 in said blocks align with each-;other to. form a continuous longitudinal groove that is adapted to receivea wall plate such as 2| or! longitudinally disposed reeniorcedrods.

Thus it will be seen thatI have provided a;

It will be understood that minor changes in the size,- form and construction ofithe various parts of my improved building-block and Walloonstruction' may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described without departing from the-spirit of my invention, the scope of which is-setforth in the appended claims.

A building block, comprising a substantial-. 1y rectangular body, there being a recess formed inthe ce'ntral portion of the upper face of said block; alug depending .from the central portion of the: un'derface of saidblock, there being a recess'formed inthe 'upper portion of the body of- .the block adjacent :one end thereof; a lugpro lower portion of said inverted L-shaped recess.
