Abstract

182,523. Spring, F. March 23, 1921. Bulding-blocks.-A wall of parallel-sided cross-section is produced from hollow bricks arranged mutually staggered in the horizontal and in the vertical direction, and interengaging eaeh other in the horizontal direction. On a small scale for use as toys, the bricks preferably have dovetailed joining faces. By alternately using layers of bricks 1, 3, Figs. 1 and 2, the first of which is half the standard height, a wall is obtained of the type shown in Fig. 9. The bricks are grooved as at 5 and have hollow insulating cells or spaces 6, which form a continuous space even when the bricks are staggered. To increase the thickness of wall, intermediate bricks 8, Fig. 11, having hollow cells 9 are used with the addition of corner bricks 10 and intermediate bricks 13. Fig. 12 shows a sections] view of a wall supporting a floor, where the interior horizontal joints are staggered bv using bricks 3 of half height alternately at the base. The bricks may be made of concrete clay, brick concrete, slag concrete, &c., or of a mixture of such materials.
