Abstract
412,341. Cylinders. HODGSON, A. E., 62, Conduit Street, and JONES, N. C., 25, Fairfield Road, Charlton, both in London. Feb. 16, 1933, No. 4803. [Class 7 (ii).] The combustion chamber roof of an overhead valve engine comprises, (1), a sloping part g which may have an angular or arc-shaped end wall g<1> ; (2) a flat part containing the inlet and exhaust valve seats, and (3), a steeply inclined port k forming, with straight or curved walls l, a cavity for the sparking plug. The chamber is formed in a detachable head b, intended to replace the existing head of a petrol engine and arranged to produce a greatly reduced clearance and thus enable the engine to operate on producer gas or coal gas.
