Abstract
412,233. Multiple - expansion steam engines. NORTH EASTERN MARINE ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., Wallsend-on-Tyne, and HUNTER, H., High Cottage, Dees Avenue, Wallsend-on-Tyne. Dec. 22, 1932, No. 36310. [Class 122 (iii).] In a multiple-expansion steam engine the valves V1, V2 of the H.P. and M.P. cylinders respectively, are arranged at opposite ends of the blocks of cylinders and the steam entering the H.P. cylinder is cooled and the exhaust from this cylinder heated by the action of an interchanger formed as a U-bend al in the H.P. steam pipe B located within the exhaust pipe E. Similar interchangers may be arranged between other pairs of cylinders.
