Abstract
412,154. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London.-(Assignees of Whitaker, J. N. ; 95, Highland Avenue, Tuckahoe, New York, U.S.A.) March 1, 1934, No. 6639. Convention date, March 1, 1933. [Class 40 (v).] An harmonic or sub-harmonic frequency generator comprises a dynatron oscillator with an input circuit supplied with a fundamental frequency and an output circuit tuned to a desired harmonic or sub-harmonic. As shown, the input is applied from a source 3 through a transformer 4 to the control grid circuit 5 of a screen-grid valve 1 operating as a dynatron. The plate circuit is tuned by a circuit 7, 8 to the desired harmonic or sub-harmonic, and is coupled through a condenser K to the input grid circuit of a second dynatron 2. The plate circuit of this valve is tuned by a circuit 11, 12, and the condensers 8, 12 may be ganged. One valve only may be used, but preferably the first valve is used for effecting the frequency change, and the second for restoring the wave to sine form. Alternatively, one valve may be used for frequency multiplication, and the other for frequency reduction. In this way a large number of harmonically-related tone frequencies may be produced for use as carriers in facsimile or other high-speed telegraphy.
