Abstract

357,244. Valve generating circuits. GRAHAM AMPLION, Ltd. and HODGSON, A. D., St. Andrew's Works, Slough, Buckinghamshire. June 20, 1930, No. 18851. [Class 40 (v).] An oscillation generator comprises a master oscillating circuit 19, 20 connected to one grid electrode of a valve and inductively coupled to a reaction coil 23 connected to a second grid electrode. The anode of the valve is connected to a tuned output circuit 24, 25 and screened from the electrodes of the master circuit to avoid electrostatic interference from the output circuit. The frequency may be further stabilized by means of a piezo-electric crystal and the screening may be improved by the incorporation of a neutralizing circuit. Modulation may be effected by connecting a microphone to either of the grids, or to the anode, or by means of a fourth grid electrode. The device may be used for multiplying frequency by arranging that the master circuit produces harmonics as by providing a high value of grid leak 22 and tuning the output circuit to the desired harmonic. Fig. 3 shows a push-pull oscillator in which a phasing system may be inserted between the screening grids or between the screening grids and earth in the case of a frequency multiplier.
