Abstract
392,436. Valve generating circuits. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Meahl, H. R. ; 2, Biglow Avenue, Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 15, 1932, No. 28847. Convention date, Oct. 15, 1931. [Class 40 (v).] To obtain stable working in a crystal-controlled high frequency oscillator the anode of the valve 1, Fig. 1, is coupled to the tuned grid circuit 5, 6 in reversed phase by the coil 8 in such a manner that oscillations could not occur without the inclusion of the piezo-electric crystal 4 in the grid circuit. By this means greatly increased stability results, the anode voltages may be higher and oscillations are independent of the anode-grid capacity which may be eliminated by using a screen-grid valve. The grid circuit 5, 6 is preferably tuned to a frequency of from one quarter to three-quarters of the crystal frequency. A resistance may be provided to match the external anode circuit impedance to the valve impedance and may be varied by connection from condenser 15, Fig. 2. The crystal may be connected between the tuned circuit 5, 6 and the cathode.
