Abstract
499,088. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. April 25, 1938, No. 12387. Convention date, April 23, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] An oscillator and frequency multiplier arrangement, particularly for generating short waves, comprises two electron-tube stages of which the oscillator stage 1 has input and output circuits tuned to the fundamental frequency fixed by a piezo-electric crystal 10 and the multiplying stage 18 has an output circuit tuned to a desired harmonic, the output of the first stage being coupled to the input of the second stage by a condenser 16 and the tuned output circuits 12, 13 ; 23, 24 being inductively coupled together. With suitable adjustment the circuit 12, 13 acts like a pendulum to reinforce the circuit 23, 24 whenever the two oscillations are in phase, giving a high power output of the desired harmonic. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the triode 18 is replaced by a screen grid tube, and in a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the two stages are combined in a single valve comprising two triodes with a common cathode.
