Abstract

603,336. Valve generating circuits. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. Nov. 30, 1945, No. 32402. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1944. [Class 40 (vi)] In a thermionic valve harmonic frequency wave generator, a fundamental frequencydetermining network is associated with the grid-cathode circuit of the valve, the output circuit is tuned to the harmonic frequency, and the grid-cathode path includes a coil or parallel circuit resonant at the harmonic frequency. In Fig. 2, the fundamental frequency oscillator circuit comprises a Colpitts' circuit associated with the cathode, control and screen grids of valve 10. The output circuit 25, tuned to the harmonic frequency is electron coupled to the oscillator circuit. To increase grid-cathode impedance at the harmonic frequency and thus also increase the output voltage, a coil 26 which is self-resonant at the harmonic frequency, is included in the gridcathode path ; the coil has negligible effect at the fundamental frequency. In addition, coil 27, which is self-resonant at the fundamental frequency, is included in the cathode circuit to provide a high cathode impedance at the fundamental frequency and a low impedance at the harmonic frequency. A modification (Fig. 3, not shown), is described showing a similar circuit arrangement as applied to a Hartley type of oscillator circuit.
