Abstract
399,716. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London.- (Assignees of Goldstine, H. E. and Conklin, J. W. ; Rocky Point, New York, U.S.A.) March 7, 1933, No. 6931. Convention date, March 9, 1932. [Class 40 (v).] In a thermionic generator comprising a back-coupled valve 16, Fig. 1, whose input circuit includes a parallel tuned circuit 8 in series with a piezo-electric crystal 6, the capacitive reactance of the crystal and its electrodes is compensated, preferably by a condenser 14 in parallel with the crystal and in series with the tuned circuit 8. Preferably the circuit is made slightly degenerative by over compensation. A low impedance, comprising a resistance 30 and a condenser 32, in shunt with the grid leak 28, prevents generation of spurious oscillations through its bypassing effect. In a modification, the cathode is connected to the junction of condensers 13, 15, Fig. 2, instead of to a tapping on the inductance 10, Fig. 1, and the compensating condenser 14 may be eliminated, the neutralizing connection being made to an intermediate point on the grid tuning condenser. The compensating condenser 14 may be connected between the grid and a coil coupled to either the plate or grid coils 18, 10. Specification 401,563 is referred to.
