Abstract
412,054. Valve circuits for wireless reception. RADIOAKT.-GES. D. S. LOEWE, 10, Wiesenweg, Steglitz, and KAPTEYN, P., 52, Steinstrasse, Steinst³cken, Neubabelsberg, both in Berlin. Aug. 3, 1933, No. 21787. Convention date, Aug. 4, 1932. [Class 40 (v).] Relates to receivers adapted to be energized from alternating or direct current mains in which a switch 5 completes the circuit for D.C. or A.C. supply connected to terminals 11, 9 or 10, 9 respectively. According to the invention a guard resistance 8 is utilized to protect electrolytic smoothing condensers 6 in the event of the D.C. supply being poled incorrectly to the terminals 11, 9. A small lamp 7 is preferably connected in series with the smoothing condensers and lights on incorrect poling as the result of the larger leakage current through the condensers. The lamp may burn out after a predetermined time. The fuse in series with the receiver may be arranged to burn out as the result of the increase in current consumed on incorrect poling. The smoothing resistances preferably cause a voltage drop of less than 20 per cent of the voltage obtainable. The terminals 20, 21 to which a pick-up may be connected are associated with a protective condenser 19 and a resistance 18 stated to diminish hum. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the rectifier 4 may be left in circuit when the receiver is operated from a D.C. supply. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
