Abstract
412,024. Discharge apparatus. SOC. DES LAMPES FOTOS, 41, Rue Cantagrel, Paris. May 4, 1933, No. 13002. Convention date, May 4, 1932. [Class 39 (i).] An electric discharge tube, particularly for uses where the potential changes rapidly and often, such as television receivers or luminescent relays comprises a rectilinear nickel anode 2, and a nickel cathode plate 5 of large area, a small portion 8 of the cathode surface being coated with a substance having a much lower extinction potential than the material of the cathode plate in order to maintain a residual discharge which restarts the main discharge after extinction. A suitable coating comprises an alkaline or alkaline earth metal, oxidized if desired, or deposited from an azide solution. An insulating coat 7, for example of mica or enamel, covers one side of the cathode.
