Abstract

411,426. Pistons. ANGLO-PERSIAN OIL CO., Ltd., and LE MESURIER, L. J., Britannic House, Finsbury Circus, London. Sept. 30, 1932, No. 27181. [Class 122 (i).] For the purpose of improving lubrication of the cylinder walls, a piston carries an additional non-fluid-tight ring of the section shown in Figs. 1 and 2 in a plain groove above or in front of the usual pressure rings, which maintains a film of lubricant above these rings, the slots b and groove c allowing free passage of the gases. Alternatively a plain ungrooved ring is used and the ring groove is recessed at several places d as in Fig. 5 which allows free passage of the gases as before.
