341,893. Lubricating stuffing-boxes. PARSONS, S. H. H., Grove Street, Cos Cob, Connecticut, U.S.A. Oct. 22, 1929, No. 32089. [Class 12 (ii).] In a stuffing-box, e.g. for a propeller shaft, lubricant is supplied to a longitudinal groove 26 in the wall of the stuffing-box by a pipe 30. The lubricant is distributed from the groove 26 to the shaft by means of lanternrings embedded in the packing, or by means of a longitudinal strip 24 fitted into the groove 26 and having upper and lower grooves connected by radial passages.
