194,350. Leroy, J. E. J. Nov. 8, 1921. Channels and reservoirs in stuffing-boxes. - Packing for a turbine or other rotary shaft comprises stuffing-boxes 4, 4<1>, Fig. 1, revolving with the shaft, and pressed by a spring 12 against the end caps 2, 3 of a stationary casing 1 containing oil. Passages 19, 20 lead the oil to the rubbing surfaces. As shown in Fig. 5, chambers 35 may be formed in the stuffing-boxes 4, 4<1>, containing lubricant which is admitted to the rubbing surfaces by passages 37, 38.
