Abstract

409,929. Bayonet joints. RAY, F. F., 16, Athol Street, Prahran, Victoria, Australia. July 4, 1933, No. 18917. Convention date, July 22, 1932. [Class 44.] A locking device for a bayonet joint, and particularly foi securing an electric lamp in its socket, consists of a spring partially encircling the socket and having inturned ends which engage with the bayonet slots to fasten the lamp in its socket. Means are provided to disengage the inturned ends of the spring to free the lamp. In the form shown, the spring 21 which is of wire or spring strip bears against abutments 20 on its housing and its inturned ends 22 are disengaged from the bayonet slots 14 by pressing its central part inwards, either by the rotation of a key 24 inserted in a slot in the housing or by a left-handed screw. The housing for the spring consists of an annular member 10 having a cover plate 25<1> which is adjustable to vary the size of the keyhole. The pins 17 on the lamp cap 16 engage with recesses 18 in the annular member 10 to prevent rotation of the lamp without the member 10. The spring may have only one end inturned, the other being anchored to a fixed pin.
