408,755. Gas heating-stoves. SOUTH METROPOLITAN GAS CO., and CHANDLER, D., 709, Old Kent Road, Peckham, London, and FLAVEL, P., Imperial Works, Leamington, Warwickshire. Dec. 22, 1932, No. 36371. [Class 126.] A gas radiator comprises in combination an outer casing 1, a heating-unit 9 arranged in it and forming a chimney which delivers the combustion gases near the top of the radiator, a heat-radiating panel 7 in the front of the casing, and a glass door 6 through which the burner flames are visible ; the gases pass downwardly between the walls of the unit 9 and the outer casing to outlets 8 in the sides or back of the casing. In the construction shown the casing 1 and chimney 9 are both of elongated rectangular form in horizontal section, the casing having a detachable lagged cover 2 and the heating-panel 7 in the front having preferably a dead black surface. Above the burners is a removable stainless steel reflector having a corrugated upright portion 4 and a substantially horizontal portion 5 lying over the burners and provided with apertures 5<1> for the flames. The heating-unit or chimney 9 is in two halves screwed together and provided with internal ribs 11. A deflector 12 at the top causes the gases to pass downwards through openings 13, and is provided with a handle 14 for withdrawing the unit. A lid formed of a sheet of asbestos 17 clamped between plates 15, 18 prevents the escape of gases from the top of the casing. The radiator may be supported or hung on a wall.
