Abstract

342,509. Gas fires. SMITH, M., 48, Devonshire Street, London. Jan. 24, 1930, No. 2535. [Class 126.] A portable gas heating appliance, shown in transverse section in the Figure, comprises a boxlike casing open at the front over substantially the whole width, and provided with bars 12 to support asbestos fuel 11 which is visible through the front, and with a cavity beneath the bars adapted to receive and conceal a gas ring 16. In the stove shown the front of the cavity is closed by a strip or wall 5 which may be perforated and provide a space 19 beneath it for the supply of air to the gas burner. An open recess 17 at the foot of either or both side walls, or of the rear wall, allows the passage of the gas pipes. A front strip 20 retains the asbestos fuel. Utensils may be heated over an aperture 21 in the top of the casing, which is provided with a removable dished cover 22.
