Cooking. stoves; ovens; heat-distributors.-A cooking- oven adapted to utilize residual heat a f t e r preliminary heating comprises a chamber A, with heat-insulated walls A<2>, which is heated externally by gas or other fuel. The heating means D is-located beneath a plate C, which closes a circular aperture A<4> in the oven bottom, and is itself covered by a heat-distributing box F, supported above the plate C by side plates F<2> and provided with upper plates F<3>, and, if desired, with an additional plate F<4>, spaced above the plate F. by lugs F<5>. The door A<3> is also jacketed and preferably has bevelled edges A<7> fitting over a seating A<5> to effect an air-tight joint, and it is stated that special closure means may be provided. A flue E may be provided as shown, and the oven carries shelves, preferably supported by horizontal channels A<6> on the sides of the chamber A. When a requisite temperature is obtained, the heat supply may be cut off and the cooking be completed by residual heat. A thermometer or heatregulator G may be provided on, the door.
