Abstract

406,603. Hoisting -apparatus. FIELD, H. S., Liner House, Orchard Street, Westminster, and HARRISON, J. C., Ashover, Selborne Avenue, Low Fell, Gateshead-on-Tyne. Sept. 12, 1933, No. 25237. [Class 78 (v).] The control lever K is connected by a link N to an arm O controlling the clutch between the motor and hoisting drum, and is provided with a roller L for acting on the brake lever F. When the lever K is in the central position, the brake B is applied by the spring M, but when the lever is moved to either side, the brake is released by the action of the roller L on the lever F. In one extreme position the clutch is disengaged, and in the other position engaged. A connection P from the lever K to the usual trip lever Q enables the control lever to be thrown back automatically to central position when the lever Q is engaged by a trip R on the load. In a modification the lever F is provided with a recess in order to give a sharper action to the brake at definite points on each side of the intermediate position of the control lever.
