Abstract
406,411. Concrete floors and roofs; casting in situ. CULLUM & CO., Ltd., H. W., 50, Britannia Street, Kings Cross, and MOURITZ, C., Grove End House, St. John's Wood, both in London. Oct. 21, 1932, No. 29482. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv).] Reinforced-concrete floors, roofs, and the like are formed by first casting a lightweight core 3 entirely in situ in such a way as to form channels, and then filling the channels and covering the core with the main concrete body 4. The core 3 is cast upon a temporary centering 1, on which trough-shaped forms 2 to mould the channels are supported. If desired, the forms 2 may be mounted on spaced blocks or provided with integral studs to space the forms above the centering, whereby the core 3 may be cast beneath the forms 2. The forms 2 may be left in position, and the concrete 4 is then cast inside the forms. Alternatively, the forms 2 may be solid. The centering 1 may be provided with a thin skin of concrete or a lining 6 of waterproof paper prior to casting the core 3. Reinforcements 5 are provided in the channels in the core 3. The core material may comprise cellular concrete, or a compound, such as calcium anhydrite, which rises and assumes an arched shape between the channels. In addition to the parallel forms 2, other forms may be arranged at various angles to such forms to present a reticulated configuration.
