Abstract
512,696. Partitions. ELGOOD, E. J. March 17, 1938, No. 8236. [Class 20 (iv)] A partition wall consisting of concrete either in pre-formed blocks or cast in situ is supported at its ends in a chase or recess A which ds disposed as a separate unit on the adjacent Wall or other structural part D of the building, the partition wall being so mounted in the chase or recess A as to be movable relatively thereto to allow for contraction of the partition wall during drying thereof. The chases A. which may be of metal, are of channel shape and preferably have their sides slightly tapered. A lining a<2> of felt or other sound-absorbing material may be provided in the chase, and similar material may be interposed between the chase and the structural part D. When the partition wall is cast in situ, provision is made to prevent the concrete adhering to the chase. Apertures may be made in the sides of the chase to provide a key for a plaster covering b<1>.
