Abstract
406,272. Drying cereals. HUZENLAUB, E. G., 3, Boston Gardens, Boston Road, Hanwell, and ROGERS, F. H., 181, Queen Victoria Street, both in London. Aug. 20, 1932, No. 23405. [Class 34 (ii).] Moist cereal products are dried and de-aggregated by feeding them into a blast of preheated air which carries them into a circular treatment vessel tangentially of the inner circumference thereof, whereby the material strikes immobile baffle plates. In the form shown, the material is fed from a hopper 1 past an adjustable plate 3 into the duct 7 of a blower 8, which duct enters the chamber 9 tangentially. Baffles 12, which may be staggered, are mounted on the perforated base plate 11 and on the sides of the drum. The dried and divided material falls through the perforated plate into the perforated hopper 13, wherein the perforations are finer than those in the plate 11. Dust carried by the air through the surface 13 is retained by the plate 13<a>, while very fine dust is deposited in the pressure reducing chamber 17. The plate 11 may be rotated to move the baffles in the opposite sense to the air stream. An air heater 21 may be situated on either side of the fan.
