Abstract

238,782. Hardcastle, H. M. Feb. 3, 1925. Draining and pressing.-Squeezing or dewatering apparatus is combined with the apparatus for drying brewers' refuse &c. described in Specification 18742/09. The wet material passes from a hopper 4 into a chamber 3 in which it is compressed and forced by a screw 6 into a fixed cylinder from the outlet 10 of which it passes into the hot air supply pipes 11 of the rotary drying cylinders 12 - - 15. The material is withdrawn from these cylinders by fans 16 and discharged into cyclone separators 18 in which the vapour generated in the cylinders is liberated. From the cyclone separators the material is charged into further drying cylinders 21, 22, while fresh material which has been dewatered is charged into the cylinders 20, 23. The final drying is carried out in the cylinders 27 - - 30.
