406,190. Windings for aynamo - electric machines. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. July 10, 1933, No. 19537. Convention date, July 15, 1932. [Class 35.] Commutating poles and windings.-In order to improve commutation in a high power hightension continuous-current motor or generator with two armature windings placed in the same slots and connected to separate commutators the commutating zones of the two windings are displaced in opposite directions from the neutral zone. In the arrangement shown the brushes B1, B2 corresponding to the two windings D1, D2 are arranged as shown. Interpoles W1, W2 are provided separated by the same angle as the brushes B1, B2 or a common inter. pole may be employed covering both commutating zones and with a suitably stepped air gap. The windings may have a shortened pitch, the shortening being the same or different for the two windings.
