Abstract

217,320. Parsons, Sir C. A., and Rosen, J. March 14, 1923. Conductors; cores.-The windings of electrical apparatus consist of a number of insulated conductors nested one within the other and connected in series, the voltage being stepped down from within outwards. Fig. 2 shows one phase of a high-voltage three-phase alternator. The inner conductors a are all connected in series, and then by the cross-connection f to the surrounding conductors c which are again in series, finally by the cross-connection h to the outer conductors d which are earthed at the star-point e. The composite conductor may be round in cross section, Fig. 3, or elongated as in Fig. 4, in which latter case the inner part n and the outer tubes o, r may be laminated. Staggered slots may be employed.
