Abstract

405,903. Roller bearings. TIMKEN ROLLER BEARING CO., Denber Avenue, Canton, Ohio, U.S.A. Aug. 16, 1933, No. 22852. Convention date, Nov. 14, 1932. [Class 12 (i).] In a double row conical roller bearing having one-piece bearing-members 1, 4 each with two races 2, 5 and one with a thrust rib 6, the cages have outer end-rings 10 held in axial position by spring or other retaining-rings 14, and inwardly projecting fingers 11 forming roller-receiving pockets open at the middle of the bearing. The rings 10 closely encircle the cone 1, and the fingers 11 lie adjacent an inwardly extending part of the thrust rib 6. The cup 4 has a lubricant passage 16 and retaining flanges 9 with filling slots 15. In a modification, the rings 14 are on the cup 4 and are flanged to take the thrust of the small ends of the rollers as well as that of the cages. In another modification, the rib 6 is on the cone 1.
