Abstract
405,749. Automatic guns. BERGMANN, T. E., Rotenfels, Murgtal, Baden, Germany. Oct. 3, 1932, No. 27417. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 4, 1932.] [Class 119.] An automatic small-arm having a breech-block locked by inertia, and a common breech-closing and firing spring, has means for manually retracting the breech-block c comprising a sleeve b adapted, when turned into one position, to engage by lugs k with recesses k<1> in the breech-block for permitting retraction of the block by a handle a at the rear without slotting the breech casing h and, when turned into another position, to engage the breech casing by lugs e and release the breechblock for automatic working. The sleeve is prevented from turning by a releasable spring catch f. After retracting the sleeve for hand loading, it is pressed inwards to cock the closing and firing spring x. In the form shown in Fig. 18, the sleeve b is combined with an inner sleeve d, a lever s on which is adjustable relatively to the lever a for safety purposes. A projection f on the sleeve is brought into engagement with a recess l in a ring i attached to the breech-block c to lock the breech-block in the open position.
