Abstract

405,564. Lubricating. BUTLER, A., 21, Dundas Square, Toronto, Canada. Aug. 14, 1933, No. 22619. [Class 12 (ii).] The upper bearing of a vertical shaft 11 is lubricated by oil which is thrown up by a gear 10 on a driving-shaft 2 through holes 13‹ in a bearing 13 and thence into an axial groove 22 in a bearing sleeve 19. The oil is carried upwardly by a spiral groove 23 on the shaft 11 and thence returned to the body of oil in the gear casing 1 through axial grooves 20, 21, in the periphery of the sleeve 19. The invention is applied to a machine for grinding lenses.
