Abstract
309,887. British United Shoe Machinery Co., Ltd., Hope, E., and Minett, W. T.. Jan. 17, 1928. Force-feed lubricators; lubricant conveyed by mechanical means.-A roll for scouring or buffing shoe bottoms is reciprocated axially by means of a collar 10 rotatably mounted on the shaft 12 of the roll and rotated by a pulley 36, the collar being connected to the shaft by a double thrust bearing 14. The collar has therein an inclined groove 16 in which is a block 30 connected by pins 26, 28, offset from the axis of the shaft 12, to a gimbal ring 18 pivoted by pins 20, 22 in the sides of a casing 24. The mechanism is lubricated by means of oil in the casing 24, which oil is picked up by a chain 38, fed along a groove 42 in the shaft 12 and fed from a recess in a block 44, by the pumping action of the reciprocating shaft, to flow along an axial bore 46 to holes 48 and a spiral groove 50 in the shaft. The pins 20, 22 are lubricated by rods 57 which pick up oil thrown by the rotating parts. Specification 23849/11, [Class 60, Grinding or abrading &c.], is referred to.
