[Class 112] The lubricating passages of a sewing-machine are supplied with oil from a reservoir by a pump which may be hand-operated or hand-controlled or be automatically put into operation at the completion of a pre-determined number of stitches. In a machine as described in Specification 540,812, the main oil channels are axial bores in the upper and lower shafts and there are separate delivery pipes from the pump to these channels. A ball-bearing supporting the needle-bar end of the upper shaft is lubricated by a rotating lipped disc. The disc receives oil from a port in the shaft and the lip throws it into the ball race.
