[Class 12 (ii)] [See also Group XXI] In a rotary machine for well drilling, the rotary table 7 and its supporting bearing 9 and upthrust bearing 14 held by a ring 19a are assembled as a unit before insertion in the base in which they are positioned by dowels 22 and secured by bolts 18 engaging a ring 16 supporting the bearing races. An annular wall 2 2 on the base enters a groove 13 in the table to prevent access of foreign matter. An annular wall 16<c> on the ring 16 overlaps a wall 15 depending from the table 7 to prevent access of lubricant from the table 7 to the bearings 9, 14, which are separately lubricated, the lubricant being retained therein by an upstanding wall 26 on the ring 19a; the pinion shaft assembly 4 is also separately lubricated. The lubricant chambers 45, 46, 47, for the pinion shaft, the table 7 and its drive pinion 12, and the bearings 9, 14, respectively are supplied through inlets 48, 49, 50, and passages cored in the base. The lubricant chamber 46 has an overflow 60, Fig. 5, and may be cleaned by admitting steam or air through pipe 63 and ejector nozzle 62. Specification 426,061 [Group XXI], is referred to.
